Hi

i just need to have a moan about my RA and the treatment my team at the hospital are lovely and they will let me know and try all drug nessacery to me, this last drug they have given me is ANT TNF Enbrel they all said it would take up too 12 wks to start and work so i started to use it and on the first week i thought my dreams had come true things swellings started to go down and i was happy then i did the second one and since then everthing has gone in reverse I am now on my 7th week and the pain and stiffness is as bad as it was before. I have left a message on the rummy nurses phone so she can ring me back and i can have a chat with her.
did Anyone else have this happen to them when they first went on it or is it just me.

sorry to moan but i get a little fed up some times with it as I am still fairly new to RA.

Thanks

Audrey

Hi Audrey, I havent taken this medication but just wanted to say sorry you are suffering at the moment and hope the rhummy nurse gets back soon. I know how you feel, you get a new medication and pin all your hopes on that this will be the one and bingo, its not!

Really hope you get something sorted and some relief soon

love Heatherxxx

Hi Audrey-I think if it was me I would persevere a little longer. I had a similar experience when I first started on Humira. Sometimes these things take quite a while to kick in.
Have you asked anyone for a depo injection to help tide things over?
YES I'VE CHANGED, PAIN DOES THAT TO PEOPLE.

Hi Audrey - sorry to hear you are struggling. I haven't started Anti TNFs yet but I'm sure I've seen similar posts and people will respond. I think Julie's suggestion about the depo is a good one. Take care.

Hi Audrey

Sorry to hear you are a little disappointed so far with Enbrel. I'm on Enbrel and have been for about 7/8 years, so well and truly tested! Prior to Enbrel I was on another anti-tnf, Infliximab, but after a year it started to lose efficacy and it was stopped. Infliximab had got off to a flying start and it was a miracle as it gave me back my life. I was devastated to be taken off it and couldn't belief anything could match it. But I was wrong!! Enbrel was slow to kick in and benefits were slow to appear but once established it has really proved itself.

I know it doesn't help but 7 weeks is still early days and I would try and persevere with it if you can. I understand Enbrel is one of the best tolerated drugs and one of the most efficient. I can only praise the benefits it has given me; having been off it for four weeks (with the prospect of a further five) I now appreciate just how much it was doing for me!! I can't wait to restart!!

I hope the nurse calls back soon and is able to offer advice. Please stick with it a little longer it may be worth it in the long term. Take care,

Lyn x

PS I am on 25mg injection twice weekly; this might be more beneficial for you and might be worth asking about.

giving too what i was like on MTX when i started .
Have you giving it enough time .Whith the MTX I kept going backwards and forwards till it had been in my body 12 weeks .Then noticed a slight differance .Then a differance each week but it took months and months .So maybe give it enough time .See a O.T so you are resting at right times .That makes a big differance .Might be why you cant see it working ???

And don,t give up and dont think you have to do this and that plan it with rests .
Are you doing too much ?IWONDER IF YOU HAVE HIGH HOPES and think you can do more .???I expect it takes months .Mind you not on this drug .But don,t give up.

Hi Audrey

I too am on Enbrel, have been for about 3 years. It can take quite a while, 3-6 months, to work to its full potential, so don't give up hope yet. Maybe you can ask your rheummy nurse if you could have a depo injection to tide you over until it all kicks in.

I hope things improve for you soon.
